TV-Cap: IRON FIST Confirms Finn Jones, A HEATHERS TV Show Could Happen, and More

Today’s TV-Cap is all over the map in the best kind of way. I have you covered in the comic book TV department with footage and pics from Daredevil and the Supergirl/The Flash crossover, and I also have some The West Wing news and word about the possibility of a Heathers television show. Get all caught up:

Prepare for Viciousness. TV Land has placed a pilot script order for a television version of the 1988 modern classic film Heathers. The anthology series, which would be TV Land’s first foray into that format, will focus on the issues of Veronica Sawyer… issues such as dating a psychopath. TV Land claims the Heathers in their pilot are different from those in the film, but just as terrible. [TVLine]

Have a Drink. AMC’s Preacher will debut on May 22, and the cast attended SXSW to promote the upcoming series. Dominic Cooper, Ruth Negga, and Joseph Gilgun stopped by Legendary Digital Network’s Saloon, and Dan Casey got to ask the best questions. [Nerdist]

An Investor. Annabeth Gish (The X-Files) is set to join AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire in season three. She’ll be around for the entire season and will play a venture capitalist that might invest in Mutiny. [Deadline]

Bummer. Sad news, Person of Interest fans. After a lot of hedging, it’s been confirmed that the fifth season of the CBS series will be the last. The final season will debut on May 3 and run for 13 episodes. On the upshot, since they knew the end was coming, at least the important points will likely be resolved. [IGN]

A Violent Approach. Feeling anxious about Daredevil dropping on March 18? If you want to get as much as possible in your eyeballs before the premiere arrives on Netflix, watch the above featurette all about Punisher. [Nerdist]

A History Lesson. If you’ve been paying attention to buzz for season six of Game of Thrones, you might have heard about the Tower of Joy. If you’ve read A Song of Ice and Fire, you know what’s up, but if you haven’t, you should know it’s a really important event in the history of Westeros. Michael breaks it all down here at Nerdist.

Brilliant. Have strong feelings about The West Wing? Then it’s your lucky day. Joshua Malina (Will Bailey on The West Wing) has started a podcast all about the series called The West Wing Weekly. He and Hrishikesh Hirway will be discussing the show episode by episode. [Vulture]

New Pals. Supergirl and The Flash will join superheroic forces on March 28 when Barry Allen drops into National City to visit the Supergirl series. The first tease for the special event is here, and though it doesn’t have much footage at all, it is still very exciting. CBS has released pics from “Worlds Finest,” too, and they’re so freaking adorable. But geez, Barry, leave the hood on! [Nerdist, Images: CBS]

Officially Official. Even though news about Finn Jones (Game of Thrones) landing the role of Danny Rand, a.k.a. Iron Fist, for the Netflix Iron Fist series dropped in late February, Marvel and Netflix have only now officially confirmed the casting. Finally. According to Marvel, Daniel Rand will return to New York after he’s been missing for years and “he fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.” [Entertainment Weekly, Image: Marvel]

Finding a Friend. Wednesday night’s Star Wars Rebels was all about the sassiest member of the Ghost crew: Chopper. The astromech disobeyed orders and made a pal. Along the way, we learned more about him. Read my recap of “The Forgotten Droid.”

If the Heathers television series happens, do you think it will be able to keep the mean but fun tone of the film? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
