TV-Cap: GOTHAM’S Showrunner Talks The Joker, iZOMBIE Key Art, & More

Happy Presidents Day! If you’re lucky enough to have the day off work, I hope you’re putting your feet up. If you have to work, well, I still hope you’re putting your feet up a little. I won’t tell. I also won’t tattle if you take a short break to catch up on television news because there’s so much good stuff. Keep reading for Gotham’s showrunner’s comments about The Joker, a gorilla-iffic clip from The Flash, photos from the next Arrow, and more.

Familiar Faces. The last episode of Arrow brought forth a severe case of feelings (poor Captain Lance!) and a couple of surprises. Oliver and Thea went to Lian Yu, and we learned Oliver spent some of his “island years” in Starling City. This week’s episode, “The Return,” shows he looked in on Tommy and Laurel while he was in town. See more pics from the episode at TV Fanatic.

Is the Joke On Us? A villain who is “no joke” is coming to Gotham in tonight’s episode. A teaser makes it seem like Cameron Monaghan’s character – Jerome – is the famed Joker, but is it a trick? Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller’s lips are sealed. Heller told The Hollywood Reporter, “He [Jerome] may or may not be The Joker. I can promise is that’s not a bait and switch. It’s a long game we’re playing here.” It doesn’t sound like the episode, “The Blind Fortune Teller,” will provide a solid answer about the character’s identity. Secrets are fun.

Agent Anxiety. I’ve been on pins and needles since Peggy was captured by the SSR in last week’s Marvel’s Agent Carter. How will she escape this situation? Two new clips from the next episode are available, and they’re not helping my nerves. Sousa and Thompson play bad cop, good cop while interrogating Peggy, and the SSR has also brought in Jarvis. The bits of footage manage to be both serious and amusing which is Agent Carter in a nutshell. Watch ’em right here on Nerdist.

Mmm, Brains. A new zombie series joins the mix on March 17th, and the premise isn’t quite like any other show with undead on television. iZombie, starring Rose McIver, is based on a comic of the same name and serves up brains and guts with a side of humor (Rob Thomas of Veronica Mars is at the helm). The CW’s released key art for the series, and it mixes blood with quirkiness. [Give Me My Remote]

Move Aside, Congo. Did Michael Crichton’s Congo scare the bejeezus out of anyone else? I was just a kid when I read the book, and it gave me nightmares. The Flash is dredging some of those bad dreams up with their portrayal of Gorilla Grodd. A new clip gives us a glimpse of the character in action and gives me all the chills. Watch the teaser and learn a little more about Grodd. Gulp.

Curiouser and Curiouser. Whether you’ve viewed Twin Peaks over and over again or are just watching the series from the early ’90s for the first time, Eric’s Twin Peaks: Revisited recaps have you covered. He just recapped the fifth episode, “The One Armed Man,” so you have plenty of time to catch up if you’re a Twin Peaks newbie. Brew a damn fine cup of coffee and dive on in.

More Of Mockingbird. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns on March 3rd and besides learning more about what’s going on with Skye, the back half of the season will see Bobbi Morse join the team in a more permanent sense because Adrianne Palicki has been promoted to series regular. I have two words to say about this: Heck. Yes. [TVLine]

Prepare Your Tissues. If you’re caught up on The Vampire Diaries, you know that a very special character has passed away. Sniffle. Death doesn’t necessarily mean it’s all over in this series, but I don’t see a way back for [redacted]. Photos from the next episode, “Let Her Go,” paint a very somber picture. See the gallery at TV Fanatic.

The Fairy Tale Continues. Remember how The CW has Beauty and the Beast? The live-action series stars Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan and has just been renewed for season four and received its premiere date for season three. The show will return for its 13-episode third season on May 21st. [Variety]
