TV-Cap: Get Your First Look at Lash on AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., New THE FLASH Trailer, and More

Comic books, the supernatural, and boy bands—that’s basically what today’s TV-Cap is all about and isn’t that combination pretty great? Get your first look at Zoom on The Flash and Lash in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., watch a clip from the season eleven Supernatural premiere, see an extended trailer for The X-Files, and listen to the stars of Syfy’s Dead 7 sing a boy band hit from the ’90s. Good times, friends. Good times.

It’s Electrifying. We’re days away from the season two premiere of The Flash on October 6. Only days! How exciting. The CW has released an electrifying new poster and a new trailer that has the first look at Zoom, voiced by Tony Todd. And there’s one more thing: another trailer from The CW showed Franz Drameh’s Jay Jackson as Firestorm instead of Robbie Amell. That makes sense since the other half of Firestorm, Victor Garber’s Dr. Martin Stein, is part of the Legends of Tomorrow cast when Robbie Amell’s Ronnie Raymond is not. Said trailer was taken down by The CW so maybe an official announcement is coming? What do you think about seeing a new Firestorm? [Variety, Comic Book Resources, Image: The CW]

In His Prime. Tom Clancy’s character Jack Ryan has led a stack of books and taken center stage in multiple films. And now, Ryan is headed to Amazon streaming. Deadline reports Amazon has given a series commitment to a show about Ryan from Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland. Rather than straight-up adapting different novels, the series would feature Ryan “in his prime as a CIA analyst/operative using the novels as source material.” [Deadline]

Excellent Tech. Minority Report’s second episode, “Mr. Nice Guy,” aired this week, and it had a couple highs–the tech is certainly interesting–and some lows. If you’ve watched the episode, read Samantha’s recap to review the ups and downs.

A Wretched Scene. Supernatural is back on October 7 with season eleven, and the Winchesters are already seeing the effects of the Darkness and they’re awful. Given the history of the Darkness, they should be. A clip from the episode shows the Darkness is leaving a physical mark on its victims (hey, that makes identification handy) and pushing them to inflict violence. [Supernatural]

Goodbye, Log Lady. Catherine E. Coulson passed away on Monday, September 28. Best known for her role as the Log Lady/Margaret Lanterman on Twin Peaks, Coulson also worked in theater, appearing in plays in the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Read Eric’s tribute to Coulson right this way.

Go Back in Time. Remember how several members of ’90s boy bands are appearing together in a zombie western called Dead 7 for Syfy? Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys wrote the script and he’s in the TV movie along with members of *NSYNC, 98 Degrees, and O-Town. At some point during filming in Montana, they took a break at a karaoke bar and sang Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way.” And yes, this is only loosely related to television news, but I had to include it. My favorite part of all of this is knowing there were likely locals in this bar who had no idea what was happening. [Nerdist]

Meet Lash. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returned with Season 3 on Tuesday, and the premiere emphasized the Inhuman presence. One of the Inhumans appearing this season is Lash, played by Matthew Willig. A first look at the character shows he strongly resembles his comic book form. In the comics, Lash is a bit of an Inhuman judge, deciding if people who have been transformed are worthy of being Inhumans. [ComicBook.com, Image: ABC]

A True Believer. Fox released the trailer for The X-Files revival on television on Monday night, and now, they’ve released an extended trailer in beautiful HD online. It sets up a pending disaster, shows Joel McHale’s character, and has a lot of tension. The show will premiere in January, but if you’re headed to New York Comic Con next week, you can attempt to attend a screening of the premiere episode. [Nerdist]

What do you think about Lash’s television look? Let me know in the comments.
