TV-Cap: GAME OF THRONES Season 6 Finale Is Most Watched Episode Ever

We’re starting to come down from our end of the season Game of Thrones high but only barely. You’ll find a couple Game of Thrones points in today’s TV-Cap, but we’re trying to let go and move onto other topics. Learn about series such as Luke Cage coming to Comic-Con, the appearance of Albert Einstein in Legends of Tomorrow, the premiere date for season four of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and more.

Yowza. All the citizens of Westeros tuned in to the Game of Thrones season six finale as it aired on Sunday night. The episode attracted 8.9 million viewers, not including streaming or on-demand info. This surpasses the series’ previous record of 8.1 million viewers for the season five finale, making “The Winds of Winter” the most-watched episode yet. [Vulture]

Ready. Set. Binge. New episodes of the Gilmore Girls are coming to Netflix “later this year,” and to help you prepare, Netflix is making all seven seasons available on their streaming service around the globe on July 1. Lauren Graham, a.k.a. Lorelai Gilmore, shares the news in the above video and encourages catching up. And if you are indulging in some Stars Hollow time, may I suggest my Supercaffeinated Recaps of the show? [A.V. Club]

SDCC Swagger. You can add a few more series to your “try to see” list at Comic-Con (must see just isn’t an option at the massive convention). Marvel and Netflix are bringing Luke Cage to the party with some footage from the upcoming series; the panel date and time is TBA. BBC America is toting Orphan Black and Dirk Gently; the panels will take place on July 22 and July 23, respectively. [Comic Book Resources, Deadline]

Calendar Time. Most of The CW’s series are premiering in early October, but ABC will have a head start. Their fall TV season is kicking off in mid-September. I thought you might be particularly interested in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s season four premiere: it will air on Tuesday, September 20, in its new 10:00p.m. time slot. Get the complete list of ABC’s fall premiere dates at The Hollywood Reporter.

Battle! How would you like to pit the stars of Fox’s animated series against each other? You’ll be able to in the new mobile game Animation Throwdown: The Quest for Cards. The collectible card game includes familiar faces from Family Guy, Futurama, Bob’s Burgers, and more. Read all about the game at Nerdist. [Image: Fox Digital Entertainment/Kongregate]

Iiiinteresting. The latest Ask Ausiello at TVLine is full of juicy information. For example, the Legends of Tomorrow heroes are apparently going to run into Albert Einstein in season two while they’re visiting 1942. Also of note: The Walking Dead will apparently introduce two new characters in episode six of next season: Naomi and Jennie. They don’t appear to be from the comic book. Get more tidbits like these at TVLine.

Flip the Clock Back. Nickelodeon had a good thing going in the late ’90s and 2000s, and they’ve been resurrecting some of their vault shows with “The Splat” programming block. That’s what they’ll be celebrating at Comic-Con this year. They’ll have an immersive booth with games, activations, and interactive design elements for their classic shows. Yes, I’m amused that materials from the ’90s is considered classic. Get the full details on their booth offerings right this way.

Can She Escape? The violent death of Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones was prophesied by Maggy the Frog. But who will be responsible for delivering the killing blow? I have some thoughts on the topic, and you can conveniently read them here at Nerdist.

Are you starting to nail down your Comic-Con plans? Which panels are you most excited about? Talk to me in the comments.
