TV-Cap: First WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER: FIRST DAY OF CAMP Trailer, GAME OF THRONES at Comic-Con, & More

Summer is officially here, and that means it’s time to think about camp—specifically Camp Firewood. The wild and fun getaway will open its doors again soon on Netflix, and the streaming service has released the first trailer. Keep reading to see the promo for Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, to learn when Game of Thrones will be in Hall H at Comic-Con, to see a new teaser for Heroes Reborn, and more.

Retro Rules. Remember commercials from way back when? They were grainy and sometimes scratchy, and the fonts were terrible. Ah, those were the days. Netflix has added all those nostalgic hallmarks to their first trailer for Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. The promo is an invitation to attend Camp Firewood, and it’s pretty much perfect. You’ll be able to go to camp soon because the series will arrive on Netflix on July 31. [Slashfilm]

Downton Abbey on Pennsylvania Ave. Dull moments at the White House are probably few and far between. It seems like an ideal setting for a political drama, and as such, it’s the locale for a series being developed by Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti’s production company Trigger Street. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Resident will follow “the relationships between White House residence staffers and the various First Families that come into the famous address over the course of several administrations.” Megyn Kelly, a Fox News anchor, is on board as a co-executive producer. Westeros in Hall H. HBO’s not dumb. They’re bringing Game of Thrones back to Hall H at Comic-Con this year. Several cast members–including Gwendoline Christie, Conleth Hill, and Natalie Dormer—and some of the crew will take the stage on Friday, July 10, at 2:30pm. Hmm, since Christie is already there on Friday, do you think there’s any chance she could also appear for Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Fingers crossed. [Nerdist]

A Bleak World. NBC has released a new promo for the upcoming event series Heroes Reborn, and the 40 seconds of footage show the world’s not in the best shape. At the very least, things look rough around the edges as the camera pans over graffiti and signs that ask, “Where are the heroes?” Where are they indeed, and can they clean this mess up? Streaming Showtime. HBO Now has been on the market since April, and Showtime has joined them in offering a standalone streaming service. To that end, they’ve just announced a deal with Hulu. Subscribers already paying for Hulu can add on a subscription to Showtime for $8.99 a month (that’s a discount since just the Showtime subscription is $11 per month). Add in the $7.99 per month fee for Hulu, and you’re looking at $16.98 each month for both. The Showtime/Hulu combination will be available in July. [Vulture]

A Final Meal. NBC just axed Hannibal from its schedule, but the network is bringing the drama to Comic-Con one more time. Cast members Hugh Dancy and Richard Armitage will appear with executive producers Bryan Fuller and Martha De Laurentiis on Saturday, July 11, at 5:00pm in Ballroom 20. Maybe we’ll get lucky by then and they’ll have news about the series getting picked up by another network. [Deadline]

Time, Space, LaBeouf. Well, Internet, we’ve crossed a line. It’s not a bad line, but it’s definitely in the rear view mirror. Artist Brandon Bird has taken Shia LaBeouf’s face and put it on the bodies of all the Doctors in Doctor Who. For reasons. See a gallery of LaBeouf as all the Doctors here at Nerdist.

Pick a Voice. Seth MacFarlane stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and played the Wheel of Impressions. It’s sadly not a real wheel, but the results are just as hilarious. For example, MacFarlane does Liam Neeson’s voice and talks about Time Warner Cable. It’s priceless. [Give Me My Remote]

Picard Gets Eclectic. Patrick Stewart has one of those voices. I’d happily listen to him talk forever so a new remix from Eclectic Method is right up my alley. They cut together some of Stewart’s Captain Jean-Luc Picard lines into a fantastic techno tune that I’m going to listen to on repeat. [Nerdist]

What do you think of the first trailer for Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp? Are you leaving space on your calendar on July 31 to binge the series?
