TV-Cap: Emmy Awards Nominations, New WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER Trailer, & More

It has finally happened! Tatiana Maslany has received an Emmy nomination. The face and heart of all the Project Leda clones on Orphan Black has been deserving of this nomination for so very long. Keep scrolling to read about her reaction to the nomination, to see a new trailer for Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, to learn the latest about John Constantine appearing in Arrow, and more.

Counselors Extraordinaire. Are you considering shipping your children off to Camp Firewood for the summer? Then you should really get to know the camp counselors. A new trailer for Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp introduces the dedicated staff, and it will put your mind at ease — or terrify you. The Netflix series will premiere on July 31st. Crane Meets Booth. The crossover episodes of Arrow and The Flash on The CW are some of the most fun hours on television, so fun that maybe people have realized we need more jumping between worlds. Case in point: Bones is crossing over with Sleepy Hollow next season. Yep. There will be one crossover episode for each series, and they’ll air later in the upcoming seasons. Ichabod Crane and Abbie Mills teaming up with Seeley Booth and Dr. Temperance Brennan? I’m curious. [Entertainment Weekly]

The Ring to Central City. The Flash is lining up all kinds of roles for Season 2, and it looks like a former WWE performer will have a part to play: Adam Copeland will step in as Atom-Smasher. The CW describes the character as “One of the most powerful enemies we encounter this season, Atom Smasher has come to Central City to kill The Flash. His incredible strength and ability to grow to enormous size makes him more than a match for Flash and the entire S.T.A.R. Labs team will have to come together to find a way to defeat him.” Atom-Smasher is a character in the DC Comics universe, but this is a different spin on his personality. Since Atom-Smasher is a giant mass of muscles, Copeland seems perfect for the role. [Comic Book Resources]

Hear Me Roar. You can stop doubting the power of the Lyons. Fox shared a promo image for Season 2 of Empire that shows Cookie and Lucious (Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard) sitting pretty on regal chairs in fancy attire and flanked by lions. Actually, just the lions would have been enough. [Deadline]

Ready the Envelope. I can’t believe it’s time to start thinking about the 2015 Emmy Awards, but here we are. The nominations were announced yesterday and highlights include a whole bunch of nominations for Game of Thrones, an outstanding comedy series nom for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and an outstanding lead actress in a drama series nomination for Tatiana Maslany for Orphan Black. The latter is also known as the most overdue award nomination ever. Review the complete list of nominees right here at Nerdist.

And About that Clone. Speaking of the wonderful and talented Tatiana Maslany… she spoke with Variety about her Emmy nomination. She said, “I didn’t even expect it at all. It’s super nice, and it feels like a nice thing for the show to get that kind of recognition, and for the fans — they’ve been so supportive and protective of us; it feels like a communal thing.” Awww. Another Guest. Based on the many casting announcements we’ve seen, I’m assuming American Horror Story: Hotel basically has everyone in it. The hotel must be giant. The last actor added to the roster is Richard T. Jones. He’ll play a homicide detective from the Los Angeles Police Department, Detective Hahn, and will appear in eight episodes. [Deadline]

Greendale Meets Gallifrey. Some mash-ups aren’t obvious go-tos on the surface, but then once they’re put together, magic happens. So it is with Community and Doctor Who. The Tumblr Gallifrey Community College puts memorable words from the Greendale Community College campus with images from time and space, and the results are amusing. [A.V. Club]

Pay Attention, Hellblazers. When Constantine was canceled, there was a push for The CW or another network to pick the series up and the idea of a crossover with Arrow was mentioned. Stephen Amell said there had been discussions. That’s apparently not entirely off the table. In regards to having Matt Ryan reprise his role as John Constantine on Arrow, executive producer Wendy Mericle told IGN at Comic-Con, “We really want to do it. It’s something we’ve been talking to DC about, and it’s just a question of some political things, but also the actor’s schedule. We’re trying to work it out, but we don’t know 100 percent if it’s going to happen.” Well, it’s not a no. [IGN]

Throwing Down. Is there any such thing as too much BattleBots action? I think not. To help you get through the long wait until a new episode on Sunday, we have an exclusive two-minute cut of a fight between Stinger and Bronco. Oh. Boy. Watch the clip right this way and then tune in to see the entire episode and battle on Sunday at 9:00pm ET/PT on ABC.
