TV-Cap: DOCTOR WHO’s Christmas Special Title, Lucy Lawless on ADVENTURE TIME, and More TV News

It’s the Tuesday before Thanksgiving — who wants to do work, amirite? Well then don’t! Read today’s TV-Cap instead! There are clips from tonight’s episodes of New Girl and The Mindy Project, the title of the Doctor Who Christmas special, a sweet lil clip of Lucy Lawless ant-ing it up on Adventure Time and more! Let’s dive in, mmkay?

Last Christmas Who Gave You My Heart: Well it’s been a rolicking couple of hours for Doctor Who, hasn’t it? First there was the reveal that the series has hired its first female writer in 6 years — the 5th of out 91 total writers the series has seen — and now there’s this bit of exciting news! Well it’s nothing quite so impressive as Catherine Treganna’s script-y business but the revelation that this year’s Christmas Special would be titled “Last Christmas” is a good bit of news nonetheless. Also it totally points to the long-speculated theory that Jenna Coleman is leaving during this episode. We’ve also included the photo the released in an em-biggen-able version below. EMOTIONS: GO! Speaking of the Whoniverse: The series has hired its first female writer in SIX YEARS and YES obviously we’re pretty pleased about that. [Nerdist]

Goodbye CSI Road: The last remaining original cast member from CBS series Crime Scene Investigation, a/k/a CSI — George Eads — has confirmed that he will leave the long running series at the end of Season 15. It should also be noted that this might be the end of the road for the show whose recent episode order was trimmed from the oft traditional 22 to 18. Hmmm! Procedural fans: take note. [TV Guide]

Steven Weber to Bug Out on House of Lies: Do you watch House of Lies? Showtime’s lil comedy is quite a gem and this season’s already impressive guest star roster — including Valorie Curry, Demetri Martin, Fred Melamed, Jenny Slate, Larenz Tate, and Alicia Witt — has now added Steven Weber and his crazy eyes to the series. The webs will play Ray Montinola, a “turnaround specialist” brought into help Kaan & Associates after that whole woopsie-daisy, Marty (Don Cheadle) got locked up thing. Something tells me their ideas might differ! Season four debuts January 11th at 10 PM. [Deadline]

Tran Gets His: Tonight’s Thanksgiving-themed episode of New Girl will finally introduce Tran to the loft. And Bangsgiving, which is a thing.

Lucy Lawless — Ant Queen: Xena/Ron Swanson’s wife is going to play an ant queen on Adventure Time. Don’t you want to see a little bit of that? Of COURSE you want to see a little bit of that. I mean, duh. Well would if I could embed it here but I can’t so you’ll just have to hop on over to EW and check it out there for yourself. (Spoiler Alert, it’s great.) [Entertainment Weekly]

The Last Kingdom Cometh: A television adaptation of Bernard Cornwell’s best-selling series of books, The Saxon Stories, is happening over at BBC America. What’s being described as a kinda-sorta Game of Thrones-y epic thanks to its expansive and kingdom-filled story (but with vikings!) of 9th century England. The Last Kingdom will star Alexander Dreymon alongside Rutger Hauer, David Dawson, Emily Cox, Matthew Macfadyen, Ian Hart, Tobias Santelmann, Thomas W. Gabrielsson, Peter Gantzler, Joseph Millson, Alexandre Willaume, Rune Temte, and Henning Valin Jakobsen. The series will follow Uhtred (Dreymon) as he is forced to choose between the Saxon country that birthed him or the vikings that raised them (after they orphaned him as a child). STRUGGLES!

#TRUEDETECTIVESEASONTWO: Rachel McAdams, Kelly Reilly, and Taylor Kitsch are now all confirmed on an official level. [Nerdist]

Bath Time: Danny and Mindy are getting super-erotic tonight on The Mindy Project. Also maybe baths aren’t made for two people?

So — who out there has read The Saxon Stories? Let us know your thoughts on the new series’ potential in the comments below!
