TV-Cap: DOCTOR WHO on Amazon Prime, GILMORE GIRLS Inspired Cookbook, and More

Convention season is officially here. C2E2 kicked things off last weekend, and now we’re about to head into WonderCon. Several television series are appearing at the convention, so brace for yourself for news. We have plenty to keep you busy until then, though. Read today’s TV-Cap to learn when Doctor Who will arrive on Amazon Prime, to learn about a Gilmore Girls-themed cookbook, to get an interview with The 100‘s creator about that recent character death, and more.

New Home. Remember how Doctor Who was pulled off various streaming services in January? That’s because it has a brand new, exclusive streaming home in the United States. Amazon Prime will be the Doctor’s Gallifrey. The series will begin streaming on the service starting March 27. Amazon will have series one through eight and all the Christmas specials. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like there are any classic episodes. [Nerdist]

Dangerous Stairwell. The third episode of season two of Daredevil features an epic battle that tops the infamous hallway fight from the first season. You can watch the entire episode on Netflix, obviously, or you can watch the five-minute punching bonanza above. It has mild spoilers though, so please consider that if you’re not caught up. [Slashfilm]

Doing Good. The nine-episode revival of Fox’s Prison Break will see the return of Paul Kellerman. Paul Adelstein will reprise his role as the mysterious former agent. [Deadline]

More Room to Play. The Walking Dead will wrap up season six all too soon, but AMC has given them more time to bring things to a close (and introduced Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan). They’ll have a super-sized 90-minute episode for the finale. [Nerdist]

Eat and Eat and… No one eats like Lorelai and Rory. Gilmore Girls centers around food, and Kristi Carlson is working on a cookbook to celebrate that food. She’s asking for funds for Eat Like a Gilmore on Kickstarter; it will include diner recipes, fancy Friday night dinner recipes, and more. I’m hungry. [Nerdist]

What a Day! Top of the Lake’s second season is shaping up nicely. Elisabeth Moss will reprise her Golden Globe-winning role, and guess who is dropping by? Gwendoline Christie. Yep. Gwendoline. Freaking. Christie. She’ll have a major role and says she’s delighted about getting to work on the series. We’ll get new episodes in 2017 on SundanceTV.

Solve It All. CBS is about to bring MacGyver back into existence. This means any kids who don’t understand your references to MacGyvering a solution will soon get it. Anyway, Lucas Till (Havok in X-Men) will play a young MacGyver. I hope he has a mullet. [Nerdist]

Opulence. We’ve talked a little about how different the second season of Outlander will be. They’ve moved from Scotland to France, and the word to describe the setting is “elegant.” It’s positively luxurious. In a new featurette, the cast and crew discuss bringing the new world to life. The show will return on April 9. [TVLine]

Warning: Spoilers follow for The 100. If you’re more than a couple episodes behind, avert your eyes and skip ahead.

Speaking Up. It’s been a few weeks since Lexa died on The 100. Fans were upset about the loss, especially considering it fed the trope of killing off LGBQT characters. Series creator Jason Rothenberg has been mum on the subject, but he decided to open up to TV Insider ahead of the show appearing at WonderCon on March 27. Read the complete interview at TV Insider.

Backtrack. Let’s wrap up today’s TV-Cap with a look into the past. Catch up on Monday television with our recaps for Supergirl (Martian Manhunter!), Gotham (Nygma!), The Venture Bros., and Daredevil (spoilers I can’t say!).

Are you making plans to marathon some Doctor Who? Talk to me about that or anything else from today’s TV-Cap in the comments.
