Can you believe new episodes of network television are just a couple of months away? All the series at The CW recently started filming again, and the return to work means new promo photos and behind the scenes looks. Keep reading today’s TV-Cap to see a couple of photos from the upcoming seasons of The Flash and Arrow, to get an update on the possibility of a Xena: Warrior Princess reboot, to see how gross the zombies are in Season 6 of The Walking Dead, and more.
A Little Modification. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, superhero costumes change to some degree in basically every film. We haven’t seen that happen too much with DC Comics on television, but both Oliver Queen and Barry Allen have altered their costumes for the return of Arrow and The Flash. We saw the new Arrow suit at Comic-Con, and Warner Bros. Television has just released an image of Grant Gustin in the Season 2 Flash suit. The biggest difference is that the Flash symbol on the chest is on a white background which makes it look more like the comic book costume. [Photo: Jordon Nuttall/The CW]
Trouble Ahead. The Winchesters rarely get a moment of peace. I mean, Supernatural would be pretty boring if Sam and Dean had an apple pie kind of life so bring on the Darkness! The mysterious Darkness won’t be their only enemy in Season 11. Emily Swallow (The Mentalist) has been cast in a recurring role; she’ll play Amara, a “seductive and sinister” villain. So, basically, she’ll be like almost every other female villain we’ve seen in the series. [TV Fanatic]

The Opposite of Ayiyiiyiyiyiyi. I realize the subject of reboots is a touchy one because hey, original stories are neat, but I’m on board with seeing some shows brought back–shows like Xena: Warrior Princess. Your heart might have fluttered along with mine when a rumor about NBC rebooting Xena floated around yesterday, but alas, it’s not true. Lucy Lawless tweeted that the possibility of more Xena badassery is “still in the wishful thinking stage.” [Nerdist]
Bring ‘Em All Over. There’s a lot to love about iZombie, and one thing in the column of wins is cameos from Veronica Mars cast members. With Rob Thomas executive producing, you never know when familiar faces from Neptune High will appear. Er, well sometimes you do know, because TVLine learned Adam Rose (he was Max on Veronica Mars) will show up in the Season 2 premiere. He’ll play Byron McCoy, “a sensitive hipster prone to wearing ironic t-shirts and passionate about the arts.” That is very specific. [TVLine]
Getting Analytical. Now that Rick Cosnett presumably has free time on his hands (he was on The Flash), he’s joining ABC’s Quantico in a recurring role. As you might guess from the name, the show focuses on a group of FBI recruits. Cosnett is slated to play Elias Harper; according to Deadline, Harper is “an openly gay, incredibly funny former defense attorney who used his rhetoric and savvy against FBI cases.” He’s joined the team as an analyst. Hacking, Etc. Before I go any further, I must ask: Are you watching Mr. Robot on USA? If not, please go remedy that. The series starring Rami Malek and Christian Slater is clever, deep, and gripping. Vacationing. The end of Season 3 of Arrow saw Oliver and Felicity leave the world behind. I can’t say I fully support Olicity, but I do support characters on the bleak series enjoying a slice of happiness. Stephen Amell shared a photo from Season 4, and it does look like Ollie and Felicity shared at least one pleasant moment. [Stephen Amell]
Gooey Zombies. Isn’t looking at rotting zombies the best way to start your day? Yuck. The walkers in The Walking Dead are becoming more decomposed and grosser by the season. If you need proof, please reference the above photos from executive producer Greg Nicotero. Those gory beasts are from Season 6. [Vulture]
VFX Wounds. Marvel’s Daredevil had several memorable fight scenes, including the one with the ninja Nobu. Effects studio Shade VFX worked on that sequence, and they’ve released a breakdown showing what they added. Skip to just after three minutes in the above video to get to the breakdowns. [/Film]
