TV-Cap: ABC Renews 15 Series, THE 100 Creator on the Big Death, and More

If you’re a fan of The 100, just know that I’m pouring one/several out for you today. The latest TV-Cap has comments from the series creator about that character’s death and the huge world-building elements that were introduced in Thursday night’s episode. Besides processing your The 100 feelings, you can get the scoop on the shows ABC has renewed, see new Orphan Black photos, and learn how Ian McShane might have revealed who he’s going to be playing in Game of Thrones.

Bring It All Back. ABC has granted early renewals for a whopping 15 series. Before we dive into the series that will be back, let’s just get this out of the way: there’s no word on Agent Carter or Galavant yet. But! You’ll get at least one more season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Once Upon a Time, Modern Family, Quantico, and more. See the complete list of renewals at Deadline.

A Tiny Hint. Ian McShane’s role in season six of Game of Thrones is still unknown. We’ve learned his character doesn’t have a ton of screen time, but what he does is key. McShane revealed a hint during an appearance on BBC Breakfast. Skip ahead now if you don’t want to know more. He said his character is “really an ex-warrior who has become a peacenik. So I have this group of peaceful sort of a like cult, a peaceful tribe. Who brings back…I bring back a much-loved character who everyone thinks is dead.” Could it be Jon Snow? Is that too obvious? What if it’s another Stark… a Stark with a heart of stone (If you haven’t read the books, don’t look up any combination of those words!). What do you think? [Nerdist]

Unexpected Return. Guess who’s somehow back for season two of Wayward Pines? Carla Gugino! Even though Kate Hewson was put on ice at the end of season one, she’ll apparently be back and unfrozen? Though it might be a flashback. [Comic Book Resources]

Grittier Reboots. I haven’t watched Fuller House yet, but I’ve heard it’s a double-sized serving of nostalgia with more nostalgia on the side. But when Bob Saget, John Stamos, and Dave Coulier appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, they showed off a different sort of reboot in which the boys become detectives in San Francisco after they put the kids to bed. I’m actually on board with this idea. [Slashfilm]

Hostage Negotiator. I keep forgetting the Lethal Weapon reboot pilot is a thing, but it is and Fox has cast another role. Jordana Brewster is on board as Maureen Cahill, a hostage negotiator with the Los Angeles Police Department. She’s also the LAPD’s in-house therapist. [Variety]

Put on Your Theorizing Hats. It’s Orphan Black Christmas! BBC has released a pile/gaggle/whatever of pics from season four (it comes back on April 14), and they’re made for being discussed. My favorite is Alison multi-tasking like the goddess she is by holding both wine and a gun. She’s my Patronus. Dying to see more photos? Good, because we have a whole gallery right this way. Bringing the Pedigree. CBS’s upcoming Star Trek series keeps growing on the creative side. They have Bryan Fuller and Nicholas Meyer, and now they’ve added Rod Roddenberry, son of Trek creator Gene Roddenberry. Rod is joining the series in an executive producer role. [Nerdist]

Warning: We’re heading into prime The 100 territory now. I won’t post any spoilers about the big event in last night’s episode, but in case you don’t want to accidentally click anything, go ahead and turn away.

Recap. Before we go any further, read Sydney’s rundown of the events in “Thirteen.” They were heartbreaking, game-changing, and so many other adjectives. It boils down to this: The 100 is biting, massive in scope, and oh so very clever.

Therapy. Okay. You’ve relived the bananas happenings of “Thirteen.” Now settle in with a drink and maybe tissues and read Sydney’s discussions with The 100 creator Jason Rothenberg about why that person died and about the Polaris Polis A.L.I.E. connections. Our minds. They’re blown.

How you doin’ after watching The 100 last night? Pretend the comments are an open forum to work it all out. We’re all here with you.
