TV-Cap: A LOUIE Premiere Date, GOTHAM Gets Renewed, & A Presidential FARGO Appearance

There’s so much to say and not at all enough time to say it! So we’re going to rush right into this here TV-Cap, because we’re overwhelmed and also excited! So much is happening. From Louie‘s return, to Gotham, Empire, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s renewals, to the new details on the plotline of the next installment of Fargo — whew! See what we mean?

So let’s get into it.

Louie Returneth: Oh, happy day! April 9th shall be the day that Louie returns to us all. Which is great for everyone while also sort of an overwhelming thought to all people who love and/or write about television because holy Newman, since when is April the new September? Between this, Game of Thrones, Orphan Black, and Outlander — overwhelmed is an understatement for how we feel right now. ENOUGH ENOUGH ENOUGH NO NO WAIT DON’T STOP. Oh yeah and also The Comedians will premiere that day immediately after. [IGN]

Speaking of Louie: FX also announced a pilot order for Better Things, a new comedy starring its creator, Pamela Adlon. It will, apparently, be about an actress raising three daughters. Louis CK and Adlon will co-write the pilot, which CK will direct. [Deadline]

A Deep Parenthood Cut: Say it isn’t so, Jason! Apparently, John Corbett has been cut from the final episode of Parenthood, having apparently filmed a scene that we won’t see until a.) it ends up on the Internet, or b.) the DVD comes out. “I got a bad call from [Parenthood creator] Jason Katims two nights ago — they had to cut my great scene,” Corbett explained, sounding totally not at all butthurt about it. “They flew me all the way from New York [to Los Angeles] to do a scene with Lauren [Graham], and God, it was such a good scene. I got to see [Amber’s] baby and they had to cut it for time. I was super bummed.” [TVLine]

Un-Bieblebable: Kate McKinnon is a better Justin Bieber than Justin Bieber himself. If only. Anywho, the Saturday Night Live superstar took her blistering takedown of the tiny Canadian to the rap/singer/person-y guy’s latest venture: his ridiculous (and photoshopped!) Calvin Klein ads. So please enjoy this gift:

And You Get a Renewal! And You Get a Renewal!: Fox was feeling straight Oprah when it came to Gotham, Empire and Brooklyn Nine-Nine at Saturday, giving all three of the series early renewals during their TCA presentation. No word on Sleepy Hollow, though — but Bones sounds pretty much good to go as well on the pick-up front. [Deadline]

Things are Getting Presidential — and Feminist! — Dontcha Know: Well here are some very exciting new details about Fargo season two. At Sunday’s Television Critics Association winter tour, FX’s president John Landgraf explained that this upcoming season is “a big, sprawling — in some ways more comedic, although at times very serious” installation and will take place in the late 1970s. Focusing on “the cultural transformation that was going on at that time,” including feminism, the town will get a visit from Ronald Reagan’s first bid for President. “Some of the characters have some interactions with him. And some of his movies are also a part of the show.” [TVLine]

And Just Cuz: A flash mob in honor of Betty White’s 93rd birthday.

So who else is already overwhelmed with excitement at the thought of April? Let us hear it in the comments.
