âThink back, to the first time you heard a song that made the hairs on the back of your neck stand upâmade you want to dance, or go out and kick somebodyâs ass. Thatâs what Iâm talking about.â
Aww yeah.
Weâre ready to rock after the new trailer for Martin Scorsese and Mick Jaggerâs new series, Vinyl, HBOâs look at one of the most infamous periods in music history.
Vinyl is set in New York Cityâs music industry in the 70s, âat the dawn of punk, disco, and hip-hop,â and is told from the perspective of record label president Richie Finestra, played by Bobby Cannavale. Finestra is âis trying to save his company and his soul without destroying everyone in his pathâ by finding ânew, fresh, fast excitingâ musicians to secure his companyâs future.
The trailer promises plenty of sex, plenty of drugs, and a whole lot of rock ‘n’ roll. Based on the trailer it looks like weâll be getting a kick-ass soundtrack too.
As Richie Finestra says about rock ‘n’ roll, “Itâs fast! Itâs dirty! It smashes you over the head.â
Other series regulars include Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano, and Terence Winter, who also produced The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire. Winter is both a producer and showrunner for the new series, which has its 10-episode season premiere in January.
