Trailer for Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger’s VINYL is “Fresh, Fast, Exciting”

“Think back, to the first time you heard a song that made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up—made you want to dance, or go out and kick somebody’s ass. That’s what I’m talking about.”

Aww yeah.

We’re ready to rock after the new trailer for Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger’s new series, Vinyl, HBO’s look at one of the most infamous periods in music history.

Vinyl is set in New York City’s music industry in the 70s, “at the dawn of punk, disco, and hip-hop,” and is told from the perspective of record label president Richie Finestra, played by Bobby Cannavale. Finestra is “is trying to save his company and his soul without destroying everyone in his path” by finding “new, fresh, fast exciting” musicians to secure his company’s future.

The trailer promises plenty of sex, plenty of drugs, and a whole lot of rock ‘n’ roll. Based on the trailer it looks like we’ll be getting a kick-ass soundtrack too.

As Richie Finestra says about rock ‘n’ roll, “It’s fast! It’s dirty! It smashes you over the head.”

Other series regulars include Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano, and Terence Winter, who also produced The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire. Winter is both a producer and showrunner for the new series, which has its 10-episode season premiere in January.
