Trailer: AFTER THE DARK

After the Dark, due out February 7th, looks like another welcome entry into the cannon of YA-Dystopian-Future movies.

A professor challenges his class in a final assignment to decide who is worthy of being saved and protected in the event of a global apocalypse, but what starts as an experiment suddenly becomes all too real, as the students turn against each other. It’s like the Stanford Prison Experiment meets The Hunger Games. It stars James D’Arcy (Cloud Atlas, Hitchcock) and Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley, all grown up), and it looks like a pretty cool psychological thriller and a pretty terrifying not-too-distant future. Take a look at the trailer:

The movie reaches theaters and video on demand on February 7th.

Steve Taylor did a great song about this in the 1980s.

Kinda sounds a little like the German movie called “The Wave”, which I thought was really good. Also, “The Experiment” with Adrian Brody and Forest Whitaker. I guess I like the “social experiment gone wrong” movies. Plus, where is this school with the swanky bunkers and the money to ship students to some island?
