TRAGEDY GIRLS’ Trailer Takes Slasher Horror Comedy Back to High School

What if Storm from the X-Men and Deadpool‘s Negasonic Teenage Warhead got together for slasher mayhem in high school? That would be a little off-brand for Marvel, but just about perfect for Tragedy Girls, a new horror comedy coming to theaters next month. Alexandra Shipp and Brianna Hildebrand star as the titular Tragedy Girls, who go on a killing spree when they figure out that they can use their victims’ gory demise to achieve social media stardom. The new trailer has been released, and it offers up some very funny glimpses at the carnage ahead.

One of the most amusing aspects of the trailer is how matter of fact and unapologetic McKayla (Shipp) and Sadie (Hildebrand) are about their murder spree. We even get to see them as amateur true crime reporters and the moment that set them upon their extremely gory path. It’s definitely a different brand of evil for the genre, and they don’t even seem to realize that they’re the villains of their own story. McKayla and Sadie also have a few close calls in the trailer as their murderous activities are almost exposed, but it remains to be seen whether any of the other characters can pick up on the blindingly obvious clues that the girls leave in their wake.

Josh Hutcherson, Craig Robinson, Kevin Durand, Jack Quaid, Timothy V. Murphy, and Nicky Whelan co-star in the movie, which was directed by Tyler MacIntyre. Tragedy Girls will slice into theaters on October 20, and we’re eager to see it!
