Tom Hardy Performed Some Bane Lines for His Dog While Wearing a Jockstrap on His Face

Tom Hardy, the only Oscar-nominated actor in the world confirmed to have a tattoo dedicated to Leonardo DiCaprio, is an immensely talented performer with a long, impressive list of great movies to his name. But he is also famous for another, much stranger reason: we often can’t understand a word he’s saying. This “quirk” has arisen in many of his films, including The Revenant, Legend, and Dunkirk, but the kingpin of the garbled-Tom-Hardy-dialogue is The Dark Knight Rises, in which he famously played a tough-to-comprehend Bane.

But not only does that not bother us as fans of his, it makes us celebrate him all the more. Especially when he gets in on the gag, such as in this video of Hardy speaking to his dog as Bane while wearing a jockstrap over his face.

If you’re having trouble understanding what he’s saying here, well… yeah. Here’s our best guess at a translation:

“You think darkness is your ally. Deh ber beery adapted to darkness. I was born indah…born and bayed…awwda at sea…doolidda dabaya until I was :incomprehensible: man :noises: blinding!”

Amazing! He remembered his lines from The Dark Knight Rises exactly. Actually, that was slightly more comprehensible than the big screen’s Bane. Maybe the jock strap was the key to making Hardy easier to understand? Anyone who had to walk around with an athletic cup on their face would surely know something about being “born and bayed” in the darkness.

…”Born and bayed” is the line, right? At least that’s what we think we heard.
