Movie Morsels: Watch the First Clip from STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

If for some bizarre reason you’re not yet excited about Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first clip from the film might make you a convert. But, in case you’re still not on board, today’s Movie Morsels has a new trailer for Zootopia, a Minions animated short short, a new Deadpool video with Ryan Reynolds, the latest on Alien 5, and more!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

If you’re a Star Wars fan who tuned in to Sunday night’s American Music Awards, you were rewarded with the first official clip released from The Force Awakens. It’s not long, but it is action-packed, with Finn and Rey in a bit of trouble:

Starring Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Max von Sydow, director J.J. Abrams continuation of the Star Wars saga arrives on December 18.

Zootopia

The latest trailer for Zootopia features one of the film’s funniest critters, the Sloth–who, naturally, works at the city’s Department of Motor Vehicles, much to the chagrin of Officer Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and her reluctant partner Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman).

Directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore, Zootopia opens on March 4, 2016.

Deadpool

Ryan Reynolds is back in character as Deadpool and has a few words to say about Brazil’s Comic Con Experience Sao Paulo in a new Twitter video:

Directed by Tim Miller and co-starring T.J. Miller as Weasel, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Morena Baccarin as Copycat, and Ed Skrein as Ajax, Deadpool will be here on February 12, 2016.

Alien 5

In a new interview, Aliens star Michael Biehn explains that Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5, which has been put on hold due to Ridley Scott’s next Alien prequel, would somehow focus on a grown up Newt:

“They’re planning on bringing me and Newt back, and at this point Newt will be around twenty-seven years old. I know that every actress in Hollywood is going to want to play this one, it’s really a passing of the torch between Sigourney and this younger actress who would play Newt.”

Biehn adds that the project isn’t dead yet:

“I know Ridley Scott is doing his movie first and is going to be the executive producer on this one, so I’m really looking forward to that. I know that Ridley’s focus is on the second ‘Prometheus’ and I’m sure that he and Fox both don’t want that and Neill’s movie to come out right next to each other, because they’re kind of two different worlds, with ‘Aliens’ taking place thousands of years later, which is how they explained it all to me, but at the same time, they want to give them a similar feel. I know they’re putting the brakes on Neill’s movie just for a little while, but I really think that it would be embarrassing to Ridley and Fox and Sigourney if they just didn’t make the movie.”

The Big Short

The collapse of the global economy, and those who would profit from it, is the subject of The Big Short, starring Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, Steve Carell, and Brad Pitt.
