Thrift Store Art Enhanced with Pop Culture Characters

I’m just taking a stab in the dark here, but I’m guessing that when you enter a thrift store, you don’t go straight for the paintings. The drab landscapes or fruit bowls are usually so faded that you can’t see what’s what, and they tend to lack substance and humor, right? So in light of this dilemma, New York-based artist Dave Pollot has given thrift store paintings a much-needed makeover, by adding our favorite pop culture movie characters. Duh, why didn’t we think of that.

The above example is a Harry Potter parody, showing the Weasley’s flying car. If you look closely, you can see Ron’s iconic orange hair popping out of the drivers’ seat, along with Harry and Hedwig in the back. This might be something you’d hang in your home now, right?

Here’s a Sharknado-style twister heading for a country home, look out!

Everything’s better with Slimer from Ghostbusters. Everything.

Check out the gallery below for more thrift store makeovers, and then head to Etsy if you want to see the whole collection — he has all different kinds of sets, from Super Mario to Star Wars to Futurama and more. You can also make a purchase there, if you’d like one of these for safe-keeping. Hey, they’d make a neat Christmas or birthday present for a pop culture fan, too.
