Three Clips from the MONSTERS UNIVERSITY Blu-ray

This summer’s Pixar hit, Monsters University, is coming to Blu-ray and DVD (and, you know, all the other platforms as well) on October 29th, but you don’t have to wait until then to get a glimpse at some of the special features you’ll find on the discs. Below are three clips about the making of the film in three different facets. FACETS! Everybody loves them!

The first clip shows a boarded and voiced but never animated scene that was to show Mike and Sulley (not friends yet at this point; prequel, remember) acting out a weird, hippie acting exercise in drama class. We’ve all done things like this; nothing to be ashamed of.

Next is a creepy crawly look at a centipede which the animators looked at for the character of Dean Hardscrabble and her many undulating legs. Quick note: If you see a centipede, stay well away from it. I didn’t need this advice in any way, but maybe some of you or Dominic Monaghan need a bit of extra fearfulness.

And finally, it’s a talk about the musical themes of our two leads with composer and maestro of sad-sack music, Randy Newman. Mike’s theme on a clarinet is basically what played any time I went anywhere from the ages of 12 to 25.

You can see more on these topics, and a heap-and-a-gob more when Monsters University scares its way onto Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, October 29th.
