Taika Waititi Dances His Way Through the THOR: RAGNAROK Gag Reel

When Marvel Studios named Taika Waititi as the director of Thor: Ragnarok, fans became enchanted by the idea of a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie steeped in the director’s quirky sense of humor. Expectations were met this past fall, and Ragnarok became the most successful Thor movie to date. The home video release for Thor: Ragnarok is just around the corner, and Waititi’s fingerprints are all over the newly released gag reel as well. As you can see below, Waititi sets the tone by making up his own words for the Marvel Studios fanfare while singing along with the music.

Via JoBlo, the Thor: Ragnarok gag reel is a spotlight of Waititi’s antics on the set. Waititi not only embraced his ridiculousness, it seems to have rubbed off his cast as well. Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson clearly seem to be having a good time on the set, while Cate Blanchett praised Waititi’s sense of humor.

In the clips, Waititi can even be seen trying on some of Hemsworth’s Thor wigs before wearing the motion-capture suit for Korg, the alien warrior that he portrays in the film. The gag reel isn’t the only special feature to look forward to on this release; Jeff Goldblum will reprise his role as the Grandmaster in a new short that finds his character moving in with Darryl, Thor’s former roommate.

Thor: Ragnarok will be released digitally on February 20, before coming to Blu-ray and DVD on March 6.
