This SUPER MARIO MAKER Level is Mech-tastic

A little over a month ago, Nintendo revealed that the J-Pop/Metal group, BABYMETAL, would be making its way to Super Mario Maker via a new costume set and event course. Of course, this is not the first time a trio of characters made an appearance in the game; Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle were added in celebration of Pokémon’s 20th anniversary. Though Nintendo’s official additions to the title are fantastic in their own right, some of the fan-created levels we’ve seen really take the cake. The level “Super Mario vs. Mecha Bowzilla,” for instance, is a new favorite of ours (and the rest of the community). Check it out for yourself at the top of the page to see why.

When Youtube user CarlSagan42 decided to test it out, we weren’t sure what to expect. In the video, we see Mario chased by a massive pair of boots, which are later revealed to belong to Baby Bowser in a mech suit, complete with spiky shoulder pads (spiny shells) and chain chomp arms. The cool thing is, as the level progresses, and Mecha Bowzilla is damaged, the suit changes.

The attention to detail is inspiring, and a testament to what you can do using the game’s level-designer. Just like the player in the video, we were wondering how the designer managed to incorporate some of the sights and sounds (like the frequent alarm heard in the video) that he did. The beauty of Super Mario Maker is that you can enter the level editor to see how everything was done. Consider us impressed.
