It may be one of the most highly anticipated sequels of the year, but thus far, little has been seen in regard to plot when it comes to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Many of the trailers and TV spots thus far have sold us on tone and post-apocalyptic settings, but finally, a new trailer released today by Fox gives us a glimpse into the kind of story we can expect to see in the film.
Guess we now know where that James Franco cameo is going to fit in.
It seems the film is going to be primarily about the struggle between apes and man to co-exist in the new world. As Caesar struggles to keep his society of evolved apes safe, the humans will walk through the now demolished land just trying to get by, that sounds like an excellent route to take the franchise to us.
Something to be really appreciated in the new trailer is the human cast and its clear range. Between Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, and Kirk Acevedo, weâre going to get a lot of different perspectives to the ape-filled post-apocalypse. One guy will want to live peacefully with the Apes, one will want to destroy them, and one will just want to keep the human race alive no matter the cost.
When the Planet of the Apes reboot hit three years ago, it took a lot of people by surprise. Dawn has a lot to live up to in that respect. Will it be a worthy sequel to its predecessor? Sound off below.
