This Mind-Blowing 8K Display Will Sell for Over $133,000

The first ever 8K television will be sold in stores next month, and it’s going for enough money to take care of about three sets of college loans. If having an Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide (IGZO) display is as important to you as the education of a few young adults, than you may what to keep a close eye on Sharp’s 85-inch 8K television, which they recently announced will be available for purchase in Japan on October 30.

The LV-85001 is an 8K monitor with a TV-like tuner and picture clarity that’s 16 times the resolution of a 1080p display. The imaging on this thing uses so many pixels that four HDMI ports are required in order to feed the 8K picture through to the display. The LV-85001 display will hit your pocket book for 16,000,000 yen, which is about $133,034 in US dollars.

I know what you’re wondering: “I haven’t even upgraded to the 4K generation yet, and they are already moving on to the next tier of high-end televisions?” Actually, 8K TVs have been beyond myth status for a while, with Sharp unveiling the first Super Hi-Vision 8K display back in January at CES.

I’d imagine this is for professional use only, as I doubt any relevant content being produced in 8K is at least a minimum of four years away. Still, I’m sure one of you rich blokes is salivated over the thought of splurging on this, and hey, good for you cash lord! You won’t have any money left, but those Game of Thrones episodes will look so fresh and so clean-clean on a warm Sunday Night. Your house will certainly be the destination for every viewing party, and if you charge an entrance fee, maybe you can make back about 2% of what it cost to buy the TV in the first place. Anything’s better than nothing, right?

But enough of my bickering about the price of this thing, because it truly is a marvelous display when it’s all said and done. What do you think about Sharp’s 8K television? Would you buy this up instantly if you had the money? Have you yet to see a 4K TV in person, and thus could care less about 8K for now? Put your thoughts on display in the comments below.
