This Live Action DONKEY KONG Short Is Bananas

In the video above, we’re treated to level one of everyone’s favorite ladder-climbing, barrel-jumping, fire-dodging, hammer-flailing, gorilla-fighting, damsel-saving game this side of 1981. Set to an electronic tune inspired by the original game’s music, our hero jumps and smashes his way up the iconic red scaffolding after the Pauline-pilfering primate. Alright, we suppose for the sake of the original game and the video’s casting, it wouldn’t be Pauline at this point (only “Lady”) but we’re suckers for alliteration.

Turns out that this phenomenal video is merely a teaser for upcoming adventures involving the most famous mustachioed plumber in the world. Donkey Kong is defeated by another Nintendo baddie who takes Lady away, further infuriating our hero.

This bit of classic gaming greatness was created by a jack of all trades by the name of Banks. According to his YouTube channel MyNameIsBanks, not much is known about him other than he’s a graphic designer, videographer, artist, and musician. This level of mystique in his videos gives us the sense that he’s 100% devoted to his work and is a true fan who just wants his creations to speak for themselves.

The amount of work that went into making this is simply astonishing and laid out in an equally well-produced breakdown video.

If you ask us, the next installment of Nintendo goodness from MyNameIsBanks cannot come soon enough but in the meantime be sure to check out the rest of Banks’ videos, including “real life” Tetris and Pokemon.

What games would you like to see in real life? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
