This is What POKÉMON Items Would Look Like In Real Life

As Pokémon gets more and more nuanced with each generation of games, items become more and more important — but do we really know what they actually are and how they work?

Some items seem relatively straightforward. A Potion seems to be a spray or ingestible liquid that has strong enough healing properties to restore a set amount of a Pokémon’s HP. A Poké Doll is a doll that looks like a Pokémon, used in an encounter with a wild Pokémon to distract them, allowing you to make a getaway. A Bicycle is… a bicycle.

But some items make less sense. We get that an Escape Rope gets you out of a cave or building instantly, but how? Do you throw it, allowing one end to magically find the entrance and pull you towards it? What about an Expert Belt? Put on a belt and the power of super effective moves are suddenly boosted by 50 percent?

We’re not buying it, and neither are the folks at Dorkly, who made a series of images depicting what a few of the more baffling Pokémon items would actually look like while in use. Above is their rendition of Leftovers, which recovers HP of the Pokémon holding it every turn. So if you’re getting beaten up, just keep eating and everything will be OK. Actually, that’s a powerful mantra by which we now live. Just keep eating.

Another example: In the games, an Amulet Coin gives you more money after you defeat a trainer. Dorkly’s interpretation:
