This HAMILTON/STAR WARS Mash-Up Was Made for Musical Jedi

How does the bastard, orphaned, son of a Queen and a Sith Lord, dropped in an ignored spot deep in the outer rim by Obi-Wan, a lonely son, a zero, grow up to be a Jedi and a hero? It’s a question at the heart of the Star Wars original trilogy and also at the beginning of this very clever, very silly, very fantastic Hamilton mash-up tune written by Nick Jack Pappas. We’re going to go out on a limb and say this is just the sort of thing to make your May the 4th great.

Telling the epic tale of Luke Skywalker’s origins—from baby Anakin days all the way to Rey’s moment with him in The Force Awakens—in the style of Lin-Manuel Miranda‘s already iconic Broadway musical is no small feat. Miranda’s ability to rhyme with such force (The Force, even?), while still driving forward plot is perhaps unparalleled in this day and age, and the team behind this video really nailed creatively weaving Luke and Anakin Skywalker’s tale into the style of the Hamilton opening number.

It’s not the first Hamilton mash-up we’ve seen, and it’ll be far from the last, but its creativity is the perfect way to celebrate this year’s May the 4th.

What do you think of the mash-up? Have any other properties you’d like to see mashed-up with Hamilton? Let us know in the comments below!
