This GHOSTBUSTERS Theme Song Remix Raises Innuendo to an Art Form

With the trailer for the Ghostbusters reboot at our disposal, it’s inevitable that content from the first two films and the animated series would be popping up all over the Internet too. The same goes for the theme song written and performed by Ray Parker Jr. YouTube user and obvious genius Neil Cicierega just did a remix of the song, titled Bustin, and it’s… well, it’s insane. And dirty. So very dirty.

The video starts off normally. It looks and sounds just like the usual remix. After a while, you start to notice a pattern, however. The lines about “something strange sleeping in your bed” pop up a lot in weird ways. “Sleeping makes me feel good,” “I ain’t ‘fraid of no sleep,” “Invisible bed”…

Then the images start to get weird. We see Parker’s head on Sigourney Weaver’s body, and lots and lots of marshmallow fluff. Get it? “Bustin’ makes me feel good”? That’s what she said. Sorry. Had to be done. Honestly, I never realized how many “O” faces are in that movie. You’ll never watch it the same way again.

If you recall, this song was the subject of a lawsuit by Huey Lewis because of its similarity to his band’s song I Want a New Drug, which also came out in 1984; they settled out of court. Go ahead. Hum both of them. It’s uncanny.

Check out the video and tweet me/us @JennaBusch/@Nerdist and let us know what you think. Marvel at the glory of Parker Jr.’s leopard print jacket and skinny tie. Send us your best “don’t cross the streams” joke. For the record, the sight of the original Ghostbusters dancing down the street together is maybe the best thing in cinema. (Fine, it’s from the music video. Still the best thing ever.)
