Things Keep Getting Weirder in DOOM PATROL #2 (Exclusive Preview)

Created in 1963, a group of freakish superheroes were gathered together by a wheelchair-bound genius who united them in the name of protecting a world that fears and hates them. Sure, you probably think I’m talking about the X-Men based on that description. But I’m not, I’m talking about DC ‘s Doom Patrol, which debuted at almost the exact same time. While Marvel’s mutants ultimately achieved mainstream popularity, the Doom Patrol just kept getting weirder and weirder over the years, finally resulting in Grant Morrison’s epic ode to the bizarre with his Doom Patrol run from the early ’90s.

Now, as part of DC Comics’ new Young Animal line of books, writer Gerard Way and artist Nick Derington have brought back the Patrol, and have doubled down on the weirdness from the Morrison era, but with their own unique and modern spin. Original members like Cliff Steele (Robotman), and Larry Trainor (Negative Man), are back, but things have changed for them since the swinging ’60s and grungy ’90s. And what is their connection to this mysterious young woman named Casey? The questions continue to unfold in the second issue of Doom Patrol.

You can check out our exclusive preview of the first five pages of Doom Patrol #2  in our gallery below.

Here’s the official synopsis:

“What happened to Larry Trainor? The hero known as Negative Man is still out there, but he’s not exactly the same guy he was back when Doom Patrol was still together. Like a Russian doll, there is man inside the man, and who knows how many other men inside of them, with the guy on top possessing a mind for mischief that incites violence. Meanwhile, Casey has started rebuilding Robotman, even though she still doesn’t know exactly how Cliff Steele ended up crossing her path in the first place.”

Doom Patrol #2  is due to hit stores on Wednesday, October 12th.
