Things Get Real Groovy in Official ASH VS EVIL DEAD Trailer

Horror fans are weeping with joy right now. After a 22-year gap of Ash-related deadite carnage on film, Starz has released the first full trailer for Ash vs Evil Dead…and it’s just glorious, you guys.

The series, co-created by Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Rob Tapert, finds a distinctly middle-aged and girdle-wearing Ashley J. “Ash” Williams (Campbell, of course) still working a department store job and reeling from having fought off a horde of demon-possessed people, including having to butcher his friends, lo those many years ago. But the Evil Dead aren’t quite done with our handsome hero, and Ash’s little town/trailer park is beset by an even more gruesome cadre of growling, snarling beasts that want him to join them.

As if anyone out there had any reservations about the series, consisting of ten half-hours, but this trailer definitely assuaged them if they were there. It’s got the exact brand of over-the-top gore and ridiculous humor we’ve come to expect following 1987’s Evil Dead 2 and 1993’s Army of Darkness. Sure, we’ve had a few video games in the interim which Campbell voiced and those were plenty good, but to see our man Mr. Campbell with the chainsaw on his stump and the boomstick in his hand again is oddly heartwarming. And that bit at the end about the people he buries being Jewish is just hysterical.

Ash vs Evil Dead will premiere this Halloween on Starz, and we can imagine now the billions of Ash costumes that’ll surely be worn this season.

Are you as jazzed by this trailer as we are? Is this the Evil Dead follow-up fans deserve? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
