Now that Iâve been out of college for a decade, Iâm starting to think that my letter to Hogwarts isnât coming. I donât totally understand it; I imagine it was just some unfortunate oversight, but alas, that dream seems like it will have to remain as such. The best that my fellow Muggles and I can do is to just buy a home and actually live at Hogwartsâ¦kinda.
Royal Connaught Park, a former public school with Victorian Gothic buildings, was used to film the Great Hall in the first three Harry Potter movies, as well as Dumbledoreâs office in The Order of the Phoenix. The school has now been converted into high-end, luxury flats, homes, and townhouses.
While a magical education at Hogwarts might be free for students, these new abodes will cost you quite a few pounds, starting at 649,000 and up going all the way up to 2.8 million. (In galleons thatâs 129,800 to 560,000, and in U.S. dollars itâs roughly between 985,000 and 4.2 million.)
While expensive, the homes do not include house-elves to cook for you, as Muggles outlawed slavery long ago.
The location was used to film 397 movies and television shows, including Hot Fuzz and Children of Men.
It was recently announced that Harry Potter fans would be able to have Christmas dinner in the Great Hall, so even if you don’t have enough gold to buy one of these homes, you can still try to experience what it’s like to be a student at Hogwarts.
