These Impressive Paper X-wings Are Ready to Take Down the First Order

You don’t need to join the Rebellion or the Resistance to pilot an X-wing; you can build your own squadron. Modeler Bernard Szukiel is a Jedi Master when it comes to constructing ships and vehicles from Star Wars. He’s made a Millennium Falcon and multiple AT-ATs, and most recently he’s fashioned a few X-wing starfighters. He’s even already crafted a replica of Poe Dameron’s ship from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

It just needs a tiny BB-8 to be complete! The ship was completed long before the release of the movie, so Szukiel used references images from the teasers and promos and maybe the toys to replicate the X-wing.

Szukiel uses paper, glue, tape, and paint for his projects. The materials are simple, but the work it must take to assemble the ships has to be anything but easy. I don’t want to think about the number of hours involved or the number of X-acto blades and cutting tools he must go through.

Fly down to the gallery below to see more shots of the completed X-wings. If you want to be even more impressed, visit Bernard’s Facebook page and flip through all the in progress images for these ships as well as the Millennium Falcon and some AT-ATs. Watching them come together is like watching sorcery. I wonder how many paper cuts Bernard has suffered over the years…

Do you have the necessary patience and folding/taping skills to make paper models? Feel free to share links to your projects in the comments.
