These Colored Pencil DISNEY and MIYAZAKI Drawings Are On Point

We love Disney and Hayao Miyazaki equally, but when the two are used in artful ways–well, we get a little overly excited! It’s an explosion of animated happiness over here, you guys! Here are some super detailed and gorgeous drawings by online artist, dada.

In these seemingly simple portraits, layer upon layer of complexities are drawn and colored in using only the humble colored pencil. It takes her 10 hours to complete this process! The joy in this little series posted on her Instagram account is that we get to experience the facial details of two famous Disney or Miyazaki characters all in the same image. One main character is featured on one half while a complimenting character is featured on the other half.

By doing this, dada has given some extra depth to the meaning of transformation which each character undergoes with their other half. You can gaze into the gentle emerald eyes of Belle while also feeling the power of Beast’s intense sky blue eyes. Or notice wisps of San’s chestnut hair in comparison to Moro’s fluffy white fur (Princess Mononoke, you know). Check out our gallery below for a few of our favorite pairings!

And lucky for Disney-Miyazaki art fans like us, the majority of these drawings can be bought as prints, tee shirts, and the likes at a reasonable price on dada’s Society6 account! Which Disney-Miyazaki mash-up do you like the best? Which two characters would you pair together? Let us know below!
