5 THE WALKING DEAD and FEAR THE WALKING DEAD Crossover Theories

When Fear the Walking Dead made its debut in 2015, fans immediately started charting crossover theories with its sister show. We know long the running AMC series The Walking Dead takes place on the opposite coast, so what—or who—would be the link between the two? Mashable reported that this week at New York Comic-Con, creator Robert Kirkman confirmed we would finally be receiving that answer.

This is huge news for fans who have been wanting to see the connection from the beginning of the series. Fear the Walking Dead begins before Rick Grimes wakes up from his coma, so characters being on one side of the country or the other isn’t that far fetched. Which character will it be, when will it happen, and which show will get the lucky reveal? While no specific details were revealed at the New York Comic Con panel, Kirkman promised fans would find out more in the coming weeks.

But for now, we can speculate to our heart’s content! These five characters could be part of the crossover:

Madison Clark

One fan theory proposes Fear the Walking Dead’s Madison is actually related to The Walking Dead’s fearless leader, Rick Grimes. Madison’s fierce determination, love of family, and mysterious back story are all good signs of a Grimes family reunion. After all, the character did casually mention that she moved to California from Alabama. Case closed, right? Not so fast. Madison is an enigma, and you can never tell what she’s going to do next. Plus she’s busy finding her family, then losing her family, forgetting about her family—Madison has a lot on her plate.

Victor Strand

Fear the Walking Dead’s Victor Strand is truly an international man of mystery. Every time we find out new information about his character, a deeper, interesting backstory is revealed. Since Strand is such a con man, it would make sense that he would have some shady dealings across the country before the apocalypse. Plus, actor Colman Domingo has so much style, I can easily see him moving from coast to coast.

Negan

What about Negan? Now there’s a TV show name if I ever heard one. We don’t know much about the psychopath killer everyone loves to hate, but again Kirkman promised we’d find out more about the bat-wielding leader’s life in the coming episodes. I still stand by my theory that what we’re really watching is a Supernatural and The Walking Dead crossover. I’m just waiting for Sam and Dean to show up and take care of this zombie problem. Hey, a girl can dream.

Merle Dixon

Admittedly, this one’s a longshot. There’s no reason why Merle would ever be in Southern California but let’s just pretend that the Dixon brothers took a long, strange, road trip across the United States. The reality of this theory is adding more Michael Rooker always makes everything better.

Shiva The Tiger

There, I said it. While it would be maddening if the tiger was the one who made the crossover, it’s a hilarious theory that’s actually the most plausible. After all, every major city has a zoo and Shiva seems to be the most loyal and mentally stable of all these characters. On Fear the Walking Dead we got an entire episode of Nick wandering the desert for an hour, so why not a tiger? I demand a Shiva-centric episode, Kirkman!

Catch the eighth season of The Walking Dead when it premieres on October 22 at 9p.m. ET on AMC.
