THE WALKING DEAD Enters “The Kingdom” in New Preview Scene

After last night’s mortifying season premiere of The Walking Dead, we could probably all use a breather…or at least a stiff drink. But because so much time was spent on Negan’s attempts to break the group, at least two major players were MIA in this episode: Morgan and Carol. But they’re about to reenter the story in a big way.

AMC has released the first preview scene from next week’s episode, which is titled “The Kingdom.” As the name suggests, we’re going to learn a lot more about the Kingdom, one of the most important communities in this new world. Judging from this clip, the residents of the Kingdom seem to really have it together. You may recall that a few of the Kingdom’s soldiers helped Morgan when Carol was critically wounded at the end of season six. This video suggests that some time has passed since then, and Morgan has essentially been a guest of the Kingdom during Carol’s recovery.

Note that Morgan is somewhat evasive about the topic of King Ezekiel (Khary Payton), the man who runs the Kingdom. Clearly, he’s met Ezekiel, and so have the viewers at home. He’s the guy with the tiger who had a big cameo in the preview trailers for this season. Morgan appears to be a bit worried about how Carol will react to Ezekiel when she meets him. Without giving away any major spoilers, we can say this: if the Ezekiel of the TV show is anything like his comic book counterpart, then he’s going to be a major part of this series going forward. And we may even see the buildup to “All-Out War” this season.
