Once the original Star Wars trilogy got The Force Awakens trailer treatment, it was only a matter of time before the prequels got one too.
Created by YouTube user Max Nicholson, who said he was inspired after seeing all of the fan-made Force Awakens-inspired trailers, this one also starts off with narration from Obi-Wan Kenobi, taken from the original films. Since these are in fact prequels, weâre going to say that is allowed. Besides, hearing old Obi-Wan talk about the mistakes of his early years while his younger self is on screen is a beautiful and bittersweet way to start.
What really stands out, and probably explains why so many of these videos keep popping up, is the power and pacing of the score in The Force Awakens trailer (which is why this music-only version is so amazing). While I find myself less excited about re-watching these films than I did after watching the original trilogy version, itâs undeniable that the prequels seem more exciting in this trailer.
You can only get so excited when you know you are about to see Jake Lloyd and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, but this trailer is still a fun watch. Extra kudos to Max for his absolutely minimal use of Jar Jar, and especially for not making us listen to him speak. I mean, a trailer is supposed to make you want to see the movie. Besides, Jar Jar already got his own version.
Which of these fan-made Force Awakens-style trailers has been your favorite so far? Let us know in the comments, and share any we have missed.
