The Slow Mo Guys Nearly Lose It with a Giant Balloon

Normally the best part of any video from The Slow Mo Guys is the actual slow motion footage, where we get to see incredible shots of something like a 50-foot flamethrower in action, or something totally ridiculous like Jell-O being swatted with a tennis racket. And while the slow-mo part of this video is absolutely awesome, it is everything building up to that moment that is the real highlight of their newest video.

For this one, Gavin and Dan again returned to using giant balloons for some fun, but instead of filling them with water they decided to just fill them with air. While they desperately tried to get Dan to lie down or sit on one, the balloon just wasn’t cooperating. It was too big for him to find any kind of balance, so while we didn’t get to see him fall flat on his face in super slow-mo, it was damn funny anyway.

But that was all just prelude to him trying to get into the balloon itself. As anyone with lots of leg hair can tell you, when something is pulling at it it feels like your actual skin is being ripped off. Going in head first was strangely the right move, and produced some hysterical visuals.

We finally got to see some actual footage in super slow-motion, and while the balloon ripped apart very quickly even under those circumstances, it was still amazing. It looked like a Greek god was being born fully grown from a giant blue pearl. You can really appreciate how fast that thing was moving by seeing how slowly Dan’s reaction time was in comparison to the balloon already being fully torn apart and on the ground. In real time it looked almost simultaneous.

This whole video feels like a successful failure, and we hope they try working with giant balloons again.
