THE SKELETON TWINS Trailer Has Kristen Wiig & Bill Hader As “Estranged” Siblings

In the most recent generations of Saturday Night Live, Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader stand out as two of the most memorable cast members with their grab bag of ludicrous and delightful characters. Outside of SNL, Hader and Wiig have been both on many projects–Adventureland, Her (both did voice work only), Drunk History, and even Ice Age: Dawn of Dinosaurs–but the two actors have shared hardly any screen time together. Of course, both Hader and Wiig are incredibly busy, so it’s surprising that they were able to pull off co-starring in the indie dramedy The Skeleton Twins. Luckily, they did and got a Sundance hit and a release date because of it.

The Skeleton Twins depicts the pair as brother and sister who haven’t talked in over 10 years but are brought back together after both cheating death on the same day. Wiig and Hader simply being in a room together would be enough for a memorable mumblecore film, but the dynamic as awkwardly reunited siblings should make for plenty of GIF-worthy moments. You can see that their chemistry is undeniable in the trailer below:

The Skeleton Twins comes from writer-director Craig Johnson as a sophomore effort following 2009’s True Adolescents with Mark Duplass. Mark Heyman, whose name you might recognize from the much darker, trippier story in Black Swan, co-wrote the script. After the roll out of this summer’s tentpole blockbusters, we’ll all get a chance to see this potential gem. Look out for The Skeleton Twins in a theater near you starting September 19th.

What other things should Wiig and Hader do together aside from generally making the world a better place with their comedy? Let us know in the comments below.

Not to be rude, but i really hope “GIF-worthy” doesn’t become a thing…
Other than that it looks like a really good movie. They really pulled off a brother and sister vibe in this trailer.
