You never know what the television news stork will bring. Sometimes it’s word about a Magnum P.I. sequel series starring Magnum’s daughter. Sometimes it’s the glorious news that there will be a Simpsons marathon spanning all 600 episodes. Or maybe it’s a snazzy new poster for the second season of Legends of Tomorrow. Today’s TV-Cap has all those things and more, so let’s dive in.
Get All the Donuts. If you don’t keep up with the show, it can be easy to forget just how long The Simpsons has been around. They’ve been hanging out on the couch for almost 600 episodes. Six. Hundred. And if you want the chance to see them all without purchasing the DVDs, strap yourself in for a lengthy marathon on FXX. Going Postal. Hulu has nabbed the rights to turn Top Cow’s comic Postal into a TV series. They’re working with Matt Tolmach Productions and Legendary TV on the project. It’s currently in development and being written by Seth Hoffman. The comic by Matt Hawkins and Bryan Hill is set the town Eden, a place where fugitive criminals live and govern. Fun and Games. A new series is coming to YouTube courtesy of GameSlice. Live with YouTube Gaming will debut on September 29 at 8:00p.m. ET. Hosted and produced by Geoff Keighley, the weekly live experience will bring YouTube gaming creators such as iJustine, AngryJoeShow, and more into the studio to cover breaking gaming news, competitions, previews of content, and much more. All the Colors. The Legends of Tomorrow season two poster screams comic book show in the best way. The poster features the returning team members such as Atom and White Canary but also showcases additions like Nick Zano’s Citizen Steel and Maisie Richardson-Sellers’ Vixen. The show returns on 13. Game to Screen. Skylanders has been a hugely popular game for Activision Blizzard, and they’re taking it from that platform to Netflix for a new series. The animated show, Skylanders Academy, will center on characters such as Spyro, Stealth Elf, and more as they explore the massive Skylands universe. Comedienne Chameleon. HBO is bringing Tracey Ullman’s Show to the screen on October 28, and they’ve released a trailer showing off Ullman’s talents. It starts with her as Dame Judi Dench, and even though you know it’s Ullman, you’ll do a double take. The six-episode sketch comedy series will focus on a modern life in Britain as Ullman takes on the persona famous people and everyday folks.
All Grown Up. Magnum P.I. charmed viewers in the ’80s. Tom Selleck, a.k.a. Thomas Magnum, stole hearts with his mustache and shorty shorts. And now, ABC is revisiting that world with a sequel. They’re reportedly developing a series focusing on Magnum’s daughter Lily. She’d follow in her dad’s career footsteps. [IGN]
No Ending? AMC has found incredible success with The Walking Dead, but how long will it last? Maybe forever. Okay, not forever, but there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight according to comments from AMC CEO Josh Sapan. He thinks the story has “many more years” left. Get more details here at Nerdist.
