We’ve all taken some version of the Facebook “Which Disney character are you?” quiz, but one family will take it just a bit further this weekend. So if you didn’t know which Disney personalities the Simpsons family best resemble, the newest couch gag offers some hints. Homer as Baloo is a no-brainer, fat and idle but basically well-meaning (and surprisingly resourceful–finding beer in the jungle?). Marge, ever the homemaker, is Snow White. Maggie as Mickey, circa “Steamboat Willie”? Well, neither one really talks much, so okay.
And Bart…well, you’ll just have to see. Naturally, he causes some trouble. It’s a shame the gag doesn’t go longer: I’d be down to see Ralph Wiggum as Wreck-It Ralph, Moe as an actual Notre Dame gargoyle, Mr. Burns as the Horned King with Smithers as Creeper…yes, damn it, that’s a Black Cauldron reference, because someone has to keep reminding Disney it exists, they own it, and it’s still great.
Anyway, the couch gag comes to us from Eric Goldberg, an animator on such Disney features as Aladdin and The Princess and the Frog. Notably, he gets an actual credit at the end, which is something I think we can all agree is long overdue for the “celebrity guest” animated gags that have over the years allowed the likes of Banksy and Don Hertzfeldt to put a unique spin on Springfield.
The episode, per IGN, will be called “Fland Canyon,” which means we have a good idea who or what will be featured…the Canyonero, of course! (I’m kidding. But we all wish, right?)
Did this couch gag make you whistle while you worked? Who else in Springfield would you Disneyfy, and how? Let’s talk in comments below.
