After two successful installments in the Despicable Me series, and the forthcoming Minions spin-off film, it is nice to see that Illumination Entertainment isn’t interested in beating a dead horse in order to make money. The trailer for their newest film, The Secret Life Of Pets, offers a humorous and adorable look into the world of pets that are left home alone while their humans are away for whatever reason.
From the looks of the trailer, it seems like the movie will tell an anthology type story following several different pets in an apartment complex during a day when they are all left on their own. However, the description from the film’s IMDb page offers a plot that falls a little more in line with what Illumination has brought to us before.
Taking place in a Manhattan apartment building, Max’s life as a favorite pet is turned upside down, when his owner brings home a sloppy mongrel named Duke. They have to put their quarrels behind when they find out that an adorable white bunny named Snowball is building an army of abandoned pets determined to take revenge on all happy-owned pets and their owners.
We here at Nerdist were loving this trailer the moment we saw it. The cute factor is matched by the humor presented, and who wouldn’t want to own a poodle that pumps System Of A Down when he’s on her own? Be on the look out for The Secret Life Of Pets next summer, and let us know what you think of the trailer in the comments below.
