THE OFFICE’s Andy Buckley Will Avoid Knowing Looks Into the Camera in JURASSIC WORLD

The cast for 2015’s Jurassic World has grown by one with the addition of The Office vet Andy Buckley, or, as some of you might remember him, Dunder Mifflin CEO and toy vacuum inventor David Wallace. You might have also seen him recently on Veep and Silicon Valley.

Buckley’s role in the film is – like most details with Jurassic World – largely under wraps. But the fourth film in the Jurassic Park franchise has got a hell of an idiosyncratic cast so far, filled out with funny people, rather than serious action-adventure types. This isn’t super weird for a series that cast Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum as heroic leads in successive films, but perhaps it will give fans a hint at what the tone of the fourth movie – aiming for a 2015 release – will be.

Buckley joins the previously announced muscled-up Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation, Guardians of the Galaxy), Judy Greer (Archer, Arrested Development), Bryce Dallas Howard (The Village), and Vincent D’Onofrio (Men In Black, the weirdest cop in the Law & Order franchise) in a film by Safety Not Guaranteed director Colin Trevorrow.

Treverrow is joined by his Safety… co-writer Derek Connolly on the script, which has been largely secret since the project was announced. Sadly, it’s probably not going to be the human-dinosaur hybrid movie that was rumored way back when… because that would have been nuts.

Treverrow in the director’s chair might offer some insight into how Jurassic World could play: Treverrow’s Safety Not Guaranteed was a heartfelt, oddball comedy which could potentially mesh well with a series whose sense of humor started off strong before getting broad, then silly, until reaching the apex of all comedy in film.

David Wallace was Dunder Mifflin’s CFO, not CEO. Idiot.
