The Next SPIDER-MAN Movie Will Film in Atlanta

Last night, Marvel Studios debuted its first trailer for Captain America: Civil War–and Spider-Man was nowhere to be seen. Marvel and Sony are probably waiting for an opportune time to unveil Tom Holland in costume as Spider-Man. However, Holland has revealed a few details about the upcoming Spider-Man solo movie while promoting his new film, In the Heart of the Sea.

In a new interview with Superhero Hype, Holland revealed that the new Spider-Man film will be shot in the same studio that was used for Captain America: Civil War. “We’re shooting in Atlanta for most of it, because they have studios there and I think it’s cheaper to build a New York set than it is to shoot here, because it’s going to be very expensive,” said Holland. “We probably will end up here (in New York) for one week or two.”

Holland also added his thoughts about Peter Parker’s status in the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

“I think one of the most interesting things about Peter Parker for us is that he’s the only person in the MCU now that has a secret identity,” related Holland. “So we all know who everyone else is. I think it’s quite interesting to go back to that hiding behind a mask.”

Additionally, Holland was effusive with praise for his Captain America: Civil War co-stars.

“They’re such easy people,” said Holland. “They’re lovely people and Robert [Downey, Jr.] did my first screen test and he was so welcoming. He took me aside and gave me a little advice about the audition…I just felt at ease with him, ‘cause he’s just a down to earth easy-going guy, and I can’t wait to get to work with them more. I’m really excited to get to work and be a part of that universe.”

Holland’s full interview with SHH has not yet been posted, but you can read his other Spider-Man tidbits here. The new Spider-Man film will be released on July 28, 2017.
