The New MIGHTY NO. 9 Trailer & Signature Edition Are The Bomb

This is the year the mighty shall rise. A slew of details for the side-scrolling platformer Mighty No. 9 have been announced today. Just in time for the video game news bonanza of course. The spiritual successor to the blue bomber titles (the same mind gave birth to both) will support the cross-buy feature on the PlayStation and will hit most platforms this September. In other words, one purchase will garner you three copies. That also goes for those purchasing the physical copy–boom goes the dynamite. It’s not the first time a physical copy gained the cross-buy feature, but I’m always grateful that I can continue with my outdated non-full-digital ways and still utilize the same benefits.

Those that will obtain the retail version of the game will also have access to the Ray DLC and some inbox extras. The downloadable content includes the Abandoned Lab stage, Ray boss, and will grant you the ability to play the whole game as the aforementioned character. You will also get a double sided poster and an art book straight out of the box.

There are plenty of goodies, but if you just need that extra 8-bit nostalgia, you may want to check out the pre-order extras. If you make the early plunge, you will also get the Beck Retro Hero DLC. This will give Beck, our blue hero, an 8-bit retro style costume to run around with. The pack will also unlock the insta-death mode, where even being hit by just one attack will lead to the death screen. The brutal mode will also be included in the full retail version, but you will have to unlock it in a different manner.

Feast your eyes on the newest trailer that accompanied this news, above. It shows off some fantastic twitch finger action.

Finally, a new edition has been revealed that will include an individually numbered 6.5″ figurine of our little blue friend. Included with the figurine will be three changeable faceplates. The Mighty No. 9: Signature Edition will include all of the above, plus the figurine, for a measly $59.99.

What’s a bit funny is this announcement comes on the heels of the news that Mega Man will once again grace the presence of televisions everywhere. Awkward much? It’s still incredible to witness the success that this title garnered through KickStarter. It is comforting to know that gamers still want these types of games. Maybe Capcom will take the hint.

Make sure to let us know which version of the release you will be purchasing in the comments section below.
