Man of Action Brings MEGA MAN Back To TV

2017 will be the 30th anniversary of Capcom’s Mega Man video game franchise. To celebrate the occasion, Mega Man is heading back to television.

The writers collective Man of Action Entertainment is partnering with Dentsu Entertainment USA for a brand new Mega Man animated series in a 26 episode order that will incorporate the characters and the mythology from the various Mega Man games. Since its creation in 1987, the Mega Man franchise has spawned 50 games on multiple gaming systems, which makes it one of the most successful properties in Capcom’s library.

Dentsu will distribute Mega Man, while Man of Action’s Duncan Rouleau, Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, and Steven T. Seagle will write, create, and executive produce the series. Rouleau and Seagle are the co-creators of Big Hero 6, while the entire Man of Action team created Ben 10, Generator Rex, and executive produced Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers Assemble animated series. Rouleau, Casey, Kelley, and Seagle are also veteran comic book writers, with several mainstream and creator owned properties among their vast credits.

Mega Man’s first TV appearance came as a supporting character in Captain N: The Game Master. In the early ‘90s, Mega Man was adapted as a three part anime series in Japan called Mega Man: Upon a Star. Mega Man also headlined an animated series from Ruby-Spears that was popular in North America. Mega Man later returned in two Anime series: Mega Man NT Warrior and Mega Man Star Force.
