The New FANTASTIC FOUR Trailer Looks… Well, Fantastic!

A young Reed, Ben, Sue and Johnny! Inter-dimensional travel! A Thing that doesn’t look like hybrid between Michael Chiklis and a circus peanut! This trailer just quelled all my fears about this reboot. It looks great!

With the jury still out on the central conflict once they get their powers, will the Fant4stic Four be up against what seems to be a scary cadre of scientists and business people lead by Tim Blake Nelson concerned with containing the accident? The government? How will Doom, or likely “#D00M”, play into this? All snark aside, this trailer has finally got me jazzed about seeing it. SPOILER ALERT!~ Nelson is supposedly cast as the iconic Fan-4 villain Mole Man, and we can only hope that plays into the plot of this early instead of TBN’s last Marvel villain role in The Incredible Hulk where he expertly portrayed The Leader for about a half a second.

Man oh man! We finally see The Ever-Lovin’ Blue-Eyed Thing up close and personal this time! Even in the short glimpses we see, Jaime Bell and Miles Teller seem to really connect as best friends Ben and Reed who will do anything to look out for each other. Additionally, can we talk about Reg E. Cathey’s Dr. Franklin Storm? Even if the movie ends up being nothing but another boring reboot, there’s no doubt that Cathey will be a definite high point.

The CGI looks amazing for each character and it’s nice to see it’s not just a situation where they’re all like “Hey look I’ve got powers! Neat!” The shots convey that each power may be uncomfortable or even painful which, in a grittier reboot, is a nice touch. Also, do I even need to say it? Yes, yes I do. BENJAMIN GRIMM DIVE BOMB!

What do you think of the trailer? Are your concerns now gone like mine? Let’s talk it out. There’s a lot to cover!
