The Dan Cave

The Must-Watch Anime of Spring 2015

Depending on where you live and how much the ozone layer has eroded, the sun is now shining, the snow is beginning to melt away, and the first flowers of spring are beginning to show themselves. April showers bring May flowers, but they also bring a torrential flood of brand new anime series for your viewing pleasure (and live-action Attack on Titan teasers).

With so many series out there, it can be difficult to navigate the myriad animated offerings. So, how are you supposed to separate the wheat from the sick zebras? Well, mixed metaphors aside, you can let me do the hard work for you.

Much like we did with winter anime back when the world was an icy, snow-covered hellscape, today’s episode of The Dan Cave is your one-stop shop for selecting the spring anime series that’s right for you. Are you a fan of massive mechas battling in the infinite blackness of space? Inspirational stories of hard work and dedication in the world of competitive tennis? Vampire-filled apocalypse? Classic caper stories reinvigorated more than thirty years later? No matter what floats your boat, we’ve got something for you, so go ahead and bid your free time farewell, because you’ve got some serious binge-watching ahead.

What spring anime are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments below or tell me on Twitter. I may not be your senpai, but I promise I’ll notice you.

I’m psyched “Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon?”, “Shokugeki no Souma” (“Food Wars” in English), and “Yamada and the Seven Witches”. I’d been following the manga for all of these series and am most excited for Yamada finally getting an anime. It used to be a guilty pleasure but i really like the direction they took with the series.

    • Risl says:

just saw the teaser for “The Heroic Legend of Arslan”, and now I’m psyched for that too. This season has a pretty good set.

  8. Rob says:

Highschool DxD Born.  For an ecchi anime, it’s actually really good.  I’m looking forward to the newest season!

  9. Ethan says:

I am waiting for:  Digimon Adventure Tri , Owari no Seraph, Denpa Kyoushi & Oregairu 2 ( My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU) & another good gundam serie

  10. Mike BP says:

Also looking forward to Denpa Kyoushi and the second season of Nisekoi.  Both mangas that I really enjoy, and I think the animation/art style in Nisekoi was outstanding.

is that a fucking fedora in the background? ugh.

  12. Eralam says:

Unlimited Blade Works? You can’t forget that.

  13. BrandonjB85 says:

I really can’t wait for the original digimon gang to come back. Also going to look into seraph of the end

  14. Gennosuke says:

I’m sad the longer I go without the greatness that is Magi… but Lupin, tho!!!!

  15. Eruanion says:

I am waiting for “Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon?” I have been reading the manga, and it has a nice storyline, as well as some great action that will look fantastic animated.

    • Dan Casey says:

Not super familiar with that one, but I’ll check it out. Thanks for the rec!

    • Mike BP says:

Same! They also started releasing the light novels translated into English. Only the first one is available right now, but volume 2 comes out in April, just in time for the anime.
