THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE Reveals a Familiar Slogan on New Poster

If you’d told me during the ’80s I’d be looking forward to a campy Batman movie, I wouldn’t have believed you.”Darkness!” I probably would have cried. “No parents!” And it wouldn’t have been ironic like when Will Arnett does it. Yet here we are: with plenty of cinematic interpretations of Batman that have already been sufficiently brooding, I’m ready for one that has some fun with ol’ pointy ears.

For Batman Day today, The LEGO Batman Movie has revealed a brand new poster, featuring a tagline you’ve already seen on numerous T-shirts in the mall, assuming you still live near a mall and some of the clothing stores in it remain open:

Here’s the official synopsis:

In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO® Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure: “The LEGO® Batman  Movie.”  But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.

The movie’s directed by Chris McKay, who’s no newcomer to the world of toy superheroes, having co-directed over 40 episodes of Robot Chicken, and therefore presumably knows firsthand why you should always be Batman. Among other things, he gets the best skits–on parody shows, you’d rarely want to be Aquaman, who nearly always seems to suffer.

Are you looking forward to a second round of Arnett Batman as much as you are Ben Affleck’s next turn? More? Less? Comment below before LEGO Batman has a chance to interrupt.
