The GHOSTBUSTERS Theme Gets Uptown Funky in Adorable Doubleclicks Mash-Up

Not only are we not afraid of no ghosts, we’re also far from fearful when it comes to funked-up tunes celebrating the forthcoming, female-led Ghostbusters flick. The same of which can be said for Portland, Oregon YouTubers The Doubleclicks, whose latest tackling of an iconic tune is sure to Uptown Funk you up.

You may remember The Doubleclicks from their fantastic cello cover of the Doctor Who theme song. But in this latest video of theirs, a slightly more disco-centric, funked-up take on cover songs takes center stage, as the Ghostbusters’ theme is mashed-up with the likes of Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk,” perhaps the earwormiest song of the year thus far (which is perfect, considering how slippery and evasive those wee tricky ghosts can be).

“We got all excited about the female-led Ghostbusters movie. (And NOTHING will squash our enthusiasm),” so, Angela of The Doubleclicks explained, “we arranged the song for vocals and bass,” with a resulting super-funkified theme. Girl Ghostbusters can no doubt get down, and we’re fairly certain this adorable ditty will get them ripe and ready to save the neighborhood from those pesky paranormals.

So put on your night vision goggles, grab the closest paranormal extermination tools, and start gettin’ down to the groove like you’re Slimer and the whole of the Sedgewick Hotel is your dance party playground. You can also download the tune for free on their Bandcamp page.

What other songs do you think would mash-up well with the Ghostbusters‘ theme? Let us hear ’em in the comments!

  19. Snarke says:

The Doubleclicks are rad! I’m glad they’re *finally* getting some play here. You should feature more of their stuff!

    • The DOubleclicks says:

They actually have posted several of our things, including our Doctor Who cover! Thank you, Nerdist!

      • Snarke says:

Right! I have a terrible memory. So I’ll amend this to say: I’m glad you are *finally* getting *MORE* play here! 🙂

  20. Shmuel says:

This is probably my favorite recent Doubleclicks cover, and that’s saying something, considering that “The Middle” and “The Rainbow Connection” are also in the running. I like the way they transformed the song into something new while making it their own.

  21. Justin says:

Love this version. I’m glad they took the song in a new and sweet direction

  22. Bone says:

Good song, good execution, and very nice women. Good job! Also, if you come to Nerdist to post mean things about musicians just trying to put art out, then your a bottom-feeding, scum-sucking, algae eater.

  23. tedder says:

Wow. What’s with the haters? Sheesh.

  24. Maria says:

Instead of hating on something for what it isn’t, can’t we just appreciate it for what it IS, which is deliberately silly and super fun! 😀

  25. Sean Kelley says:

I’ve listened to this at least two dozen times since it was released, and think it’s delightful. Definitely one of my favorite Doubleclicks songs.

  26. NotAnNPC says:

I don’t get the hate on this. It’s cute and fun!

If you don’t like it…click off.

  27. Daniel Z says:

  30. j. says:

The Doubleclicks are my favorite, and I’d probably visit this sit regularly again if you featured more awesome stuff like what they do!

    • The Doubleclicks says:

Nerdist is awesome! They debuted a Megaran video a couple weeks ago. Yay nerdist!

  31. Dane says:

I like the harmonies also the bass line. 🙂 DoubleClicks RULE!

  32. ThisSucks says:

damn, Nerdist really will just put any piece of fan made bullshit on their website wont they? That sucked

  33. Michael says:

That stinks….It’s either not funky or you just don’t know how to funk properly. Is Ray Parker Junior still around, what would he say to this. He’s needs to resurrecting or find some female singer who can do that style of music properly.

  34. Girl busters suck says:

    That sucked
