Yesterday, the world was taken for a ride by a fan trailer of the upcoming season of The Legend of Korra that was created with accidentally leaked footage put out by a Nickelodeon international branch over the weekend. But today we can rejoice in legitimate celebration as Nickelodeon has released the first official trailer for season three. Check it out:

Between this and the Sanjay and Craig news, it’s a good day to be a Nickelodeon fan.
One of the most telling shots comes at the 1:17 mark where we see an elderly Zuko standing in the foreground. There was recent confirmation the character would be appearing in the new season, but it is nice to finally see a glimpse of him in the first trailer.
It’s also interesting how subtle Nickelodeon always plays things in regard to the marketing of The Legend of Korra. Like the first look of season two from last year, this trailer features no dialogue or sound effects, just a montage of action shots set against the excellent score by Jeremy Zuckerman and Benjamin Wynn. These trailers really sell the beauty of the Avatar world, and the ways in which it has matured over the years.
Also, more giant monsters, you guys. We are so into that in every way possible.
The Legend of Korra premieres this fall on Nickelodeon.

Also… Bumi finally managed to Air Bend? Look like it’s going to be a good season; let’s just hope Korra actually matured a little and can use her head this season. Season 2 was painful.
Love the fact that Zuko is in there, the multitude of air benders, and that korra has aangs glider at the end.
