THE DIVISION 2 Trailer Reveals a Grim Vision of America (and Big Endgame Plans)

At their annual E3 press conference on Monday, Ubisoft revealed a slew of new details about The Division 2, the sequel to 2016’s always-online multiplayer action-RPG/shooter hybrid The Division, including a pair of trailers, details about the game’s endgame content, and a planned stream of free post-release downloadable content.

The game takes place seven months after the events of The Division, wherein a deadly virus ravaged the Earth, creating mass chaos and putting the United States on the brink of collapse. Now in The Division 2, it is up to you and other agents of The Division, civilian sleeper agents who are serving as society’s last defense against total anarchy, to save Washington D.C. from those who would destroy it.

Developed by Ubisoft Massive, The Division 2 is an online open world, action-RPG/third-person shooter hybrid. Playing solo or co-op with a team of up to four players, you can complete story-driven campaign missions or take part in PvP matches against other players in the Dark Zone, the game’s multiplayer arena.

One of the biggest announcements is that Ubisoft will allow groups of up to 8 players to band together to tackle raids for the first time in franchise history. These challenging missions, which will launch post-release, will put larger groups of players to the test, forcing them to use to use advanced tactics to achieve their objectives.

In addition, Ubisoft will allow players to choose one of three character specialization–sharpshooter, demolitionist, and survivalist–after finishing the main game’s storyline. They will also be releasing free episodic DLC content to support the game following its release, which will open up new story areas and activities for players to complete.

The Division 2 will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC on March 15, 2019. Players can register now in order to request beta access.
